I’ve been home with my two kids and dog the whole summer! We have done nothing special at all… no cocktails on the beach in some tropical land… just lazy days in the garden! It has been lovely and relaxing…. but there are no scrapbook collections with “stay-at-home-the-whole-summer”-theme! 😀
What to do?
I really liked the new summer collection from Crate Paper, Oasis, and I had some left from an older one (not sure what it was called). So a matched all the tropical flowers and leaves with my photos of us hanging around in an ordinary Swedish garden! 😀
… and I also mixed and matched some older things. The clouds are from Amy Tangerine and the white leaves are made with my new favorite die. Monstera leaves are so beautiful and although they are tropical… I really really like them.
Today, my oldest started kindergarten again and summer is over! 😦
Time to use up all summer collections and start to look at what’s new for Autumn. I now I like Carousel from Maggie Holmes (already in my stash). But I have also ordered some from the Glitter Girl collection. And I’m also looking at Turn the page from Paige Taylor Evans. What collections are you looking at (or ordering)?
This is my favorite technique right now… it’s some kind of patchwork and I made a similar one in pink a while ago. This is a perfect way to use up all the square ephemera. I have a hard time to use squares on a regular layout. I can only use one or two at the most… and it’s always a lot of squares in an ephemera pack. Why????? I don’t remember it was so many before? How do you use them?
For this layout I picked all squares with yellow and mustard and orange. I also took some black (to add some interest)… I don’t really have a title on this one… just small words and phrases around the photo. You don’t need a title on EVERY layout….
I have a PL page that matches this layout. So the journaling is on the PL page instead of on the layout! The best thing about PL is that you can use up some odd embellishments. Like the bird in the cage… 😀
The green washi from Maggie Holmes is one of my favorite and I use it on everything. I will use up the whole washi soon… my first used up roll! 😀 😀 😀
The papers are scraps from older collections. I love how all the collections matches!!!!
That’s it from me today! Hope you liked it!
I just loooove this photo! It’s my husband playing with the camera while we were waiting for the c-section. He looked so funny in the hospital clothes! 😀
When I saw the photo I knew I wanted it big! I also knew I wanted to decorate the layout with more masculine colors (not just pink). And I also wanted to use decorations from baby collections. I gathered some green, blue and teal and placed it alongside the photo. Some stitching, stamping and gold paint… and it was done! I think it’s sometimes easier to work with a big photo, you don’t need as much papers and colors to make the page interesting!
Hope you liked this layout!
Pink is a very popular color in my house! My oldest daughter just loves pink and no other color! I’m guessing pink will be my youngest daughter’s favorite color as well… in a few years! On these photos she is only 2 months old and has just started to smile.
I gathered a lot of pink decorations and wanted to include some animals. Birds are one of my favorite object to include right now. Flowers are always pretty on a layout! These are cut from a paper.
I almost never mount my layouts on a background paper. But I really needed some black to balance all the pink.
That’s it from me today! Hope you like my work!
I’m trying to use up my stash before the new collections hits the store! And I’m having so much fun! I have a lot of things that I had forgotten about. Things I actually can and want to use.
The easiest way of using up stash is (I think) to choose decorations in the same colors. For this layout I collected all blue and green I could find. Both from new collections and very old ones. The decorations doesn’t really match each other… a cactus and flowers and stars? But the colors work together!
Hope you like my layout!
I bought the new collection from Fancy Pants called Dream big! I just loved the clouds and the birds. I usually don’t like travel themed collections… because I don’t travel so much… Dream big seemed to be a bit more versatile than an ordinary travel collection… so I gave it a go!
The papers are stunning! I really love the combination of yellow and light blue. And pink of course… you always need some pink!
I scrapped one of my favorite photos this month. My youngest girl sleeping together with the most snuggliest guard dog!
The title and the birds are from some older Maggie Holmes collection. And the branches are made with my new die from Sizzix (love it!!!).
That’s it from me today! Hope you liked it!
Have you ever tried to do a page in an other size than 12*12?
One popular format is 8,5*11. And I have tried it a few times before… but I think it is a bit small. Not enough room for embellishments… 😀
This week I had two extra photos that I didn’t want to make a 12*12 page with… I didn’t feel I had a story to go with the photos, I just wanted them to stand out a bit from the PL-pages. So I decided to try 8,5*11 again. And it was fun! Much quicker!!!!!
The first page is a mix of a lot of different collections. I really love to work like this… mix and match! I only have one real summer collection… and I haven’t used much of it. We don’t really have summer in Sweden. 😛
The second layout is with the popular flamingo! It’s a very pretty bird… and it’s pink… just like my girl! I matched the flamingos with a pink swan, just to make the pink more important than the sort of bird. We don’t have any wild flamingos here… and I have no photos of any! But you can make it work anyway! 😀 That’s it from me today! Hope you liked my layouts! And I hope you try this smaller format too!
